A great book of stories of the help given and jobs created by Faith Fowler in the Cass area of Detroit. Very funny in places but to the point of doing good in a place that needs all the good it can get. an easy read in short 2-3 page stories.
An amazing book. Well written, great content and funny and inspiring. Would read anything else this author writes.
Funny and touching are the first words to come to mind to describe this book. I really enjoyed reading this book.
This book is on the reading list for United Methodist Women, so several members of our circle read it and reviewed the book at our monthly meeting. It is an excellent book and very motivational for church groups who want bold ideas for how to better serve their communities. Cass Community United Methodist Church has done amazing things--so amazing it is almost intimidating. Rev. Faith Fowler clearly listens to God and provides creative, courageous leadership for social service ministries that have changed the lives of so many. The chapters are short, and it is an easy read. Plus, there is lots of humor in the book. God bless Faith Fowler for taking the time to write this book and share her experiences with the world. Onward by faith!

The books is a collection of stories from 20 years of work in the heart of Detroit and all its struggles. Fowler describes living, ministering, blessing, and being blessed amidst the poverty of Detroit. Latently she has described the way forward, through expressions of faith, radical hospitality, and the power of significant work.
This was a wonderful book and the organization is still ran in Detroit. Awesome place to go volunteer and help the community
